In-person and Live-streamed @lapcbrooklyn On July 20 at 7:00pm there will be a staged reading of “Lysistrata” by Aristophanes at Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church. The event is free, with a suggested donation of $10 per person.

The Greek ancient comedy is directed by Moshe Henderson, Basement Theatrics Artistic Director and produced by LAPC community member Maria Politano.

Inspired by the Women’s March, immigration debates, ongoing global conflicts, and a growing sense of political division in the United States, Basement Theatrics reimagines the ancient comedy through a modern lens.

Developed by artists who met through HB Studio, this play is going to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2026, and this reading will help raise funds for the company to go.
