Performance, reading, and discussion, with music by the Lafayette Inspirational Ensemble!

Fulton Street’s Greenlight Bookstore is presenting this special event, “A Celebration of Spirituals for All Ages,” here at Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, on Sunday, February 23, at 4:00pm. Come for this celebratory event that aims to “highlight the importance of spirituals in Black American history while offering the same range of emotions experienced in the book itself.”

Cheryl Willis Hudson and London Ladd, author and illustrator, will present their new picture book, When I Hear Spirituals, along with music by the Lafayette Inspirational Ensemble, Janis Russell, Director.

This hour-long event is free and open to the public. People of all ages are welcome. RSVPs are requested but not required.

Copies of the book When I Hear Spirituals will be available for sale at the event; a percentage of sales will be donated to support the Lafayette Inspirational Ensemble. Enter through the lobby at 85 S. Oxford Street in Fort Greene, between Lafayette Avenue and Fulton Street.
