Food & Coat Drive to Benefit Covid Bail Out NYC

Bring warm coats and non-perishable food donations to the front Doors of the Church on Lafayette Avenue at South Oxford Street.

COATS:  Winter coats for adults of all sizes are needed urgently, with men’s coats being in most demand.

FOOD DONATIONS:  Canned goods of all kinds are preferred. But the project indicates they are flexible as long as the food is non-perishable.

CASH/CHECKS:  These kinds of donations should be made using this link at Covid Bail Out NYC

SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE: The people of this Church are partnering with Covid Bail Out NYC to bring people safely home from Rikers Island. New York City’s notorious jail complex has long had a reputation for brutal conditions, but in recent months the situation inside has become a full humanitarian crisis, aggravated by the coronavirus.

COVID BAIL OUT NYC, in partnership with LAPC, has organized a bail out effort for over 270 people (so far) from Rikers and other city jails. When they are released from the jail, these returning citizens often have too few resources and support. Coat and food donations are an urgent need. Please help us and support this effort. Thank you.
