We have continued our advocacy to protect and extend the Bail Reform and Discovery laws passed by the NYS legislator in 2019 through our participation in the Brooklyn Justice Advocacy Coalition and other groups including the Just Reentry Initiative which focuses on fair housing for formerly incarcerated people.
LAPC partners with COVID Bailout to release deserving citizens from Rikers Island Jail and enable them to protect themselves from COVID-19. These returning citizens often have too few resources and support. We held a Coat and Food Drive which were transferred to the project the same day.
We at LAPC are part of the Brooklyn Justice Advocacy Coalition. BJAC is a coalition of community based and faith based organizations that advocates for criminal justice reform including local advocacy with the office of Brooklyn District Attorney.
