Lafayette LIVE – A Musical Celebration of Pride!
Lafayette LIVE! on June 14: Featuring Mark William, Vocals, and J. David Williams on Piano. All are invited to come to the patio at Lafayette and South Oxford, under the flags, starting at 12:30pm on the second Sunday of the month. Plus, there will be sneak-peak tours of the now-closed but stunning church Sanctuary. For those who have never been in this magnificent space, this will be a rare treat. These are free events. Everyone in the community is invited to stop by for as long as you like — whether you attend Sunday worship or not! Bios of the performers are below.
Mark William has been a professional member of The Lafayette Choir since 2017. He is a 3x BroadwayWorld Award-winner for his shows and albums, Come Croon With Me and If I Can Dream, streaming everywhere. Mark has appeared on Broadway in 3 editions of Broadway Backwards. He has shared the stage with such luminaries as Sarah Brightman, Andrea Bocelli, Gloria Estefan, Brendan Fraser, and Whoopi Goldberg. Favorite credits include: A Day in Hollywood… and Over Here! (Off-Broadway), Young Frankenstein (Walnut Street), 42nd Street (Riverside), and the Voices of Liberty in Disney’s Candlelight Processional. Mark is the lyricist and star of the new musical, Dorian’s Wild(e) Affair, premiering at Weathervane Theatre this September. Mark’s short film, Do you?, will play the festival circuit this year, and he will star in the upcoming feature film, Brighter Stars.
J. David Williams was born in the small west Tennessee town of Paris and was exposed to music from the very beginning owing to the fact that his mother is a church musician, choir director and singer. He was appointed to his first organ playing position at a local church at age 14. He holds degrees in organ performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, The Juilliard School, and Manhattan School of Music. He is presently Director of Music & Organist at Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, and Music Director at Congregation Rodeph Sholom. He has accompanied numerous vocal and instrument recitals, cabaret shows, and choral performances.
