“How are we being called to act in the world right now? What are you going to do so that you aren’t so overwhelmed by the burning that you see in the world, that you are immobilized and not sure what to do next? Below are tangible, meaningful, and local actions you can do right now around issues of immigrant justice.” -Rev. Emily Brewer, May 17, 2026. Watch Rev. Brewer’s sermon on YouTube.

SHARE
The LAPC Social Justice Committee is partnering with the group Fort Greene / Clinton Hill Mutual Aid to provide diapers and wipes to immigrant families. Drop-off donations on Sunday mornings at the church office (size 4 & 5 diapers are especially needed). This is an ongoing need. If you are not local but still want to share in this effort, arrange for diapers to be delivered to the church and we’ll include them in the monthly distribution. Shipping address: Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, 85 South Oxford Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217

PREPARE
For information about your rights when interacting with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents (as well as information to support people during and after a detention) download a Deportation Defense Manual from Make the Road New York.

PRAY
Journeying God, Migrant Christ, Border-Crossing Spirit:
Protect all who live in fear of being detained or deported by ICE. Grant conviction to all who have the ability to advocate for an end to this terror. Transform us so that our laws, policy, and culture reflect the truth that we are one in you. Journey with us until the safety, freedom, and dignity of all your children is made real in all the Earth. Amen.
