In May 2021, the large Pride Progress and Black Lives Matter flags were installed on the facade of the church for all to see. These flags measuring 10 x 12 feet replaced the smaller banners that graced the front of the church for many years, only to be vandalized and torn down months before. Not to be deterred, funds were raised and these new, larger, flags were created and installed to make a loud statement. And they are installed up high over the church entrance, well out of hate’s reach.

These flags are the newest additions to the exterior of the church building to declare that it is on the path of justice. And they affirm for all who see them, in Fort Greene and beyond, our Church’s beliefs of inclusion, justice, and liberation for all people.

In 2025, after being exposed to the elements for four years, far longer than their expected life span, replacement flags were ordered and installed.
